About The Virginia Carpenter, Inc.

The Virginia Carpenter, Inc. is a family-owned residential contracting company offering a variety of specialized services. Founded in early 2010 after nearly a decade as a sole proprietorship, we are built upon an established reputation for delivering top-quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service in the residential construction field.

 Luke M. Cullinane, President

Luke Cullinane is a third generation carpenter and builder from Loudoun Heights, VA. He was raised on jobsites: sweeping, working as a helper/laborer, and eventually taking on the finish carpentry. His early experience was largely working on Colonial reproductions built by his father and uncles. Luke's fluency in Colonial architecture and form was further refined in Williamsburg, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Art from William & Mary.

With a strong foundation in one of the greatest architectural periods in housing and an artists' eye, he is skilled at translating the elements of form, symmetry and function to suit a variety of styles and situations.

Laura Cullinane, Office Manager

Laura (aka "Mrs. Luke") heads up the office division at our world headquarters in Paris (Virginia). Her multi-faceted background is primarily based in music performance and education, with a degree in Music Education from GMU, although her experience in human resources and artist management comes in especially handy here. Outside of the family business she teaches fiddle, violin and viola at The Community Music School of the Piedmont and The Hill School, and is an active board member for Buchanan Hall.

The Virginia Carpenter Team

We have a core crew of experienced carpenters, enabling us to specialize in all phases of construction - from framing to finish and everything in between. (Let's just say the combined years of experience is a very high number, which, if we were to print it, would just make us all feel old.) In addition, we seek to carry on the tradition of top-quality workmanship with our carpenter's helpers, who are just starting out and learning the trade.

Rounding out the pack is our unofficial mascot and ambassador Banjo, who proudly hails from the MOC beagles. (Due to his wandering nature he only makes occasional appearances on the jobsite.)
